3 Inspirational Poems, 2 written by our own team member Adam Scarati and the best known poem by John McCRae

When I was a boy I sat on his knee

He told me he fought so I could be free

His hands were rough and his eyes told stories

He defended our nation and held all its glory

My life has been simple not a worry you see

I’m bearing the fruits of the wars before me

Many years later I’m a father myself

May the bullets and bombs collect dust on the shelf

Loved ones before us have been down that road

Forever in our hearts they will never erode

Both of my grandpa’s these words are for you

The courage you showed will always shine through

On November 11 we remember the past

In the souls of these men the fear will last

A moment of silence on Remembrance Day

For a lifetime of peace was the path they all paved

Poem written by Adam Scarati……………………..

He always spoke of war and sorrow

He’s the reason we have tomorrow

He spoke of smoke, guns, and the bombs

He fought so hard to right the world’s wrongs

He spoke of what a men used to be

A glance in the mirror is all we need

He spoke of pain of loss and death

Live your life full to its very last breath

He spoke of love and the meaning of life

If you find it you hold on with all your might

He spoke of wolves that force their way in

Keep them out or your demise will begin

He spoke so often and I miss him so

My remembrance of him I’ll never let go

Poem Written By  Adam Scarati……………………………………….

In Flanders fields the poppies blow

Between the crosses, row on row,

That mark our place; and in the sky

The larks, still bravely singing, fly

Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago

We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,

Loved and were loved, and now we lie

In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:

To you from failing hands we throw

The torch; be yours to hold it high.

If ye break faith with us who die

We shall not sleep, though poppies grow

In Flanders fields.
